About Bidets

History
One of the earliest known written references to the bidet is dated 1710. The bidet originated in France, at a time when full body bathing was infrequent. The bidet provided  cleansing of the 'private' areas of the body, in-between  bathing. Until the 1900's the bidet was confined to the bedroom, along with the chamber pot . Modern plumbing brought the bidet into the bathroom. Where it usually is positioned next to the toilet. In continental Europe, the usefulness of the bidet is fully understood and is considered to be as important in the bathroom as the shower, bath or toilet, no well equipped home is without one.

Who uses them and why?
The bidet can and is be used by both women and men. Bidets offer the user a hands-free and supposedly superior water wash in place of the wiping and occasionally the irritating action of toilet paper. Bidets are an invaluable aid to personal hygiene. The bidet is rapidly gaining popularity among health conscious families and those with special needs, inflammatory diseases, senior citizens, the disabled, post operative and people with limited mobility/dexterity.

The Modern Bidet
Today's bidet is typically sit-down wash basin. Usually made from vitreous china, it is styled to resemble the shape of the toilet. The bidet is usually placed next to the toilet in the bathroom, an arrangement meant to encourage personal hygiene. However it does take up the same amount of space as the toilet bowel.

HOW do you use them?
The conventional bidet is designed to be sat upon, legs astride, facing the taps. While sitting, you simply turn on the water. When the water temperature is to your liking using the mixer taps, you increase the pressure to direct a stream or spray of water towards those spots in need of cleansing.

Latest developments.
Our leading edge electronic Bidet toilet seats, integrate the bidet with the toilet bowl saving space. In addition water temperature, seat temperature may be precisely controlled. The latest bidet toilet seat even has a built  in blow dryer and remote control, via infra red technology. Our Sanicare IVY bidet is state of the art  and  exclusive from ourselves in the UK

Some Interesting Facts about Toilet Paper

Sadly, since the Chinese invented paper about 2,000 years ago, the trees on the earth have faced the greatest calamity.

Of course paper makes our life much easier and more convenient, especially the tissue paper or the toilet paper. But, also let’s look at some interesting facts about it. With a little over 6 billion humans living on earth, that calls for the daily production of 83,000,000 rolls per day with no days off and no vacations, over 31 billion rolls per year. (Toilet Paper -  Patrick. A. Tollefsrud) The average length of toilet paper is 50 meters. That means the toilet paper we use each day can encircle earth over 100 times.

Then, how much we pay to get the product? One metric ton of pulp costs 23 trees. We produce 26.8 million tons of pulp and fell 616.4 million trees per year. (RISI 2004) And that’s not the only thing it cost. Pulp and paper is the third largest polluter to air, water and land, and releases well over a hundred million kg of toxic pollution. Many pulp and paper mills use chlorine-based chemicals to bleach pulp white. These chemicals react with organic molecules in the wood and other fibers to create many toxic by-products, including dioxin. Pulp mills are voracious water users, too. Their consumption of fresh water can seriously harm habitat near mills, reduce water levels and alter water temperature. In laboratory tests, mill effluent causes reproductive impairment in zooplankton, invertebrates (both these are food for fish), and shellfish, and genetic damage and immune system reactions in fish. Air discharges from pulp mills contain hormone-disrupting and carcinogenic chemicals, such as chlorinated phenols, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and VOCs.

This is horrible enough. But what can we do after nature calls? In many countries, people use a better way to clean themselves and use less paper. They use water instead. They use a bidet. Today modern families use a computerized bidet toilet. Computerized bidet toilets bring more comfort and less pollution. When there are over 5,000 different companies trying to producing  toilet paper. as, you can make your contribution to world ecology today!!
